A lot of refurbished product suppliers claim to deliver “like-new” quality. We go further by embedding innovation, precision and market-leading standards into every step of our unique remanufacturing process, so the difference between new and “like-new” is undetectable.
Today’s laptops are already perfectly fit for purpose. To us, sustainable computing means extending the usable life of enterprise IT by designing out obsolescence and tackling any barriers or reservations amongst the world’s largest corporate IT consumers.
We can remanufacture the most common laptops in volume. Our purpose-built factory and unique remanufacturing process leaves no cosmetic detail untreated. We provide a brand new battery supplied under an exclusive deal with Duracell, as well as a new SSD. We offer a warranty that is executed without compromise - 3 years advanced swap out service. And all orders are supported and supplied through the same trusted IT reseller channels that supply new products, for complete peace of mind.
The misconception that new laptops are the only solution for the modern work place is wrong. We reached a technology plateau some years ago, and this followed the theory of Intel's co-founder Gordon Moore. Billions is invested in creating beautiful product but the incremental changes are mainly cosmetic and not technical, or performance related.
Our work with Cranfield University in 2017, supervised by Mark Jolly (left) further confirms this, proving that Circular Computers can perform at 97% performance against that of a new laptop - which is unnoticeable in the modern day office environment.
The new opportunity for growth lies in being able to implement sustainable strategies alongside Circular Economy business models. Google has managed to find this balance and has demonstrated hundreds of millions of dollars worth of savings.
Circular Computing is implementing these strategies by creating a 'Circular Eco System' of value through maximising the re-use cycles of ICT by up to 9 years. We take our products back at the end of their useful life where they re-join our remanufacturing process and can be re-deployed and re-used again by another Circular user.
We have a constant flow of equipment moving in and out of our Circular process via our partner network. This is what we call our Circular Eco-System.
Extending the product life of corporate IT is an easy way for large business to improve corporate sustainability, be socially responsible, improve their bottom line and aid the transition to a circular economy
According to British Standard BS8887-211 the definition of remanufacturing is: “returning a product to at least its original performance with a warranty that is equivalent or better than that of the newly manufactured product”. Our factory is audited against ISO processes, and incorporates and follows the BS8887 guidelines which focus on the quality of the product produced, customer expectations and guarantee of performance that is the expected of a new product.
Our collective engineering knowledge and strong R&D focus means we have also perfected and optimised our processes in line with BS8887 - “the remanufacturer must produce a flow of products that uniformly meet the like-new standard”.
A recent MIT study claims that 40% of man’s advancement was due to the delivered evolution of technology. However, as IT manufacturers rise to the pressure of unprecedented demand, our planet and most vulnerable communities are paying the highest price. Poor working conditions, consumption of raw materials, sourcing of “conflict minerals”, child labour, CO2 emissions and the unsafe handling of e-waste are just a few examples of the costly impact of man’s development in this way. We want to play our part in reversing this legacy. Our Reversal initiative and it’s aims and targets are focussed on doing exactly that.
We can extend the normal life of a corporate laptop by 4 cycles using the following path:
New – Will be with the original purchaser for 3 years.
Circular Life 1 – Will be after our first “remanufacture” restoring the product back to the same corporate performance standard.
Circular Life 2 – By the second “remanufacture” the product is 6 years old and in most cases still suitable for corporate life.
Circular Life 3 – By the third “remanufacture" the product is 9 years old and perfectly suitable for use in education.
For each laptop we supply, we plant 5 trees with our partner WeForest. Those trees offset 100% of the carbon emissions released in the production of that laptop. Additionally, as the tree matures it absorbs enough CO2 to compensate for 15 years use of the laptop.
We want to create innovative, scalable and lasting ICT solutions that restore forest landscapes for the sake of the climate, our planet and people everywhere. And we can do this as a by-product of good business – triple net benefits in practice.
We are committed to projects in India and Zambia. The trees though are just the shop window - the other major benefits are to the local, otherwise vulnerable societies, who are able to create sustainable generational wealth.
