Together for Mental Wellbeing is a UK charity dedicated to empowering individuals to take charge of their mental health journeys, supporting them towards greater independence and enhanced wellbeing

The challenges

Together for Mental Wellbeing identified several critical issues that necessitated a strategic shift in their approach to technology procurement and deployment.

Cost of brand-new laptops: The organisation found the financial burden of purchasing brand new laptops to be prohibitive. This high cost impacted their ability to allocate funds to other essential services.

Lack of extended warranties or hardware support: Newly purchased laptops often came without the necessary extended
warranties or hardware support, posing a risk for long-term sustainability
and reliability. Time consuming repairs were also handled by the IT team,
which they wanted to avoid.

Unsustainable way of purchasing: Recognising the environmental impact of buying new electronic equipment, the organisation sought more sustainable solutions to align with their eco-conscious ethos.

Difficulties sourcing the same model: Inconsistency in sourcing identical laptop models necessitated reliance on multiple suppliers, complicating procurement and inventory management.

Lengthy configuration for the IT team: Considerable time and resources were required from the IT team to configure laptops, delaying deployment to users and reducing operational efficiency.

High delivery costs for sending equipment to users: Distributing equipment across numerous locations resulted in substantial delivery expenses, further straining the organisation’s budget.

The Process

Together for Mental Wellbeing approached Circular Computing® to address these challenges. Circular Computing shared the project with Together’s reseller, who took charge of the procurement process. This collaboration ensured a seamless supply of laptops, tailored to Together’s specifications, while maintaining environmental and economic sustainability.

The solution

Together for Mental Wellbeing’s collaboration with Circular Computing proved to be a game-changer in addressing their IT challenges. Together opted for remanufactured Lenovo T470s and T480s laptops, acquiring 104 and 79 units respectively.

These models were chosen for their reliability and high performance. By opting for remanufactured laptops, Together achieved remarkable cost-effectiveness, saving approximately £100 per laptop without compromising on quality or performance. Together had some staff with NHS cards who were using USB readers. With these new remanufactured laptops, their staff can now insert their NHS cards straight into the laptop, with no need to carry around bulky card readers. Together’s reseller streamlined their procurement by imaging, configuring, asset tagging and delivering the laptops directly to Together’s sites across England.
