Circular Computing has been named as a finalist in two categories at the Digital Technology Leaders Awards 2025, celebrating excellence in digital innovation and sustainability. The recognition highlights the significant impact of two pivotal partnerships that exemplify how technology can drive both social and environmental progress. 

Outstanding Digital Inclusion Project with Kent County Council 

Circular Computing, in partnership with Kent County Council (KCC), has been shortlisted for the Outstanding Digital Inclusion Project. This initiative provided over 4,500 remanufactured, carbon-neutral laptops to individuals facing digital exclusion across Kent. Designed to bridge the digital divide, the project empowered residents to access essential services such as healthcare, education and employment, while ensuring sustainability at its core.  

The urgency of this venture came to light during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting the need for reliable and affordable digital access. By choosing Circular Computing’s remanufactured laptops, KCC significantly reduced costs and contributed to environmental goals. Key outcomes include: 

  • 1.4 million kg of CO₂ emissions prevented 
  • 855 million litres of water saved 
  • 22,500 trees planted 

Samuel Lawrence-Rose, Head of Service at Kent County Council, explains the project’s importance: “Digital Kent’s scheme, as part of our Financial Hardship programme, showcases our commitment to supporting the people of Kent currently facing digital exclusion. It’s been a tough few years for residents and we wanted to reach as many individuals as possible through our projects. Partnering with Circular Computing has enabled us to do just that with better value devices while also helping Kent be more sustainable.” 

Most Successful Environmental Project with Weightmans LLP 

The partnership with Weightmans LLP propelled Circular Computing to a nomination in the Most Successful Environmental Project category. By incorporating 1,400 remanufactured laptops, Weightmans prioritised sustainability in its IT upgrades, driving their ESG strategy and reducing Scope 3 emissions.  

The measurable impact of this collaboration was substantial: 

  • 440,000 kg of CO₂ emissions avoided 
  • 1.68 million kg of natural resources preserved 
  • 266 million litres of water saved 
  • Zero e-waste produced 

These efforts reflect Weightmans’ clear commitment to responsible IT procurement and a broader environmental agenda.
