The ripple effect: Clean water for another 372 lives, made possible by our customers

ripple effect

Today marks another proud occasion for the entire Circular Computing family, and more importantly, for the community of Alac in Uganda. Following the success of our very first clean water project in Gbamusu, Sierra Leone, we are immensely proud to announce the official completion of our second sponsored clean water initiative, delivered in partnership with charity: water.

This achievement is not just a corporate milestone, it is the tangible, life-changing result of every single customer choosing our circular IT.

In Uganda, access to safe drinking water remains a daily challenge for many rural communities, with only 18% of the population having access to safely managed drinking water services, leaving millions without reliable water where they live. Poor access to safe water and sanitation continues to contribute to preventable illness, with diarrhoeal disease remaining a leading cause of death among young children in the region.

Imagine the walk. Every day, miles for unsafe water. Now, for the 372 residents of Alac, that walk is replaced by a new source of hope.

The effect on the community will be profound, seismic and multi-generational. Before the borehole, the daily struggle to find water dictated the lives of the residents. Children who previously spent hours every morning trekking to unsafe water sources will now be able to attend school. This gift of time is the catalyst for better educational outcomes and a brighter future for the youth of the village. For the women, the proximity of clean water will be equally life-changing. The hours reclaimed from water collection are now channelled into income-generating activities, fostering economic independence.

The project involved the construction of a drilled and lined borehole equipped with a hand pump. This solution was chosen for its durability and ease of community-led maintenance. The borehole ensures that clean groundwater is reliably brought to the surface for long-term use and strengthens the overall resilience of the community.

Combined with our first project in Gbamusu, which provides safe water for 220 people our two completed projects now provide clean, life-changing water to 592 people across Sierra Leone and Uganda.

Thanks to your decision to choose Circular Computing, mothers, fathers, and children no longer face the daily burden of water scarcity. Instead, they can now focus on health, education, and building a brighter future.

These are the moments that truly affirm our mission. While we may facilitate the projects, it is crucial to state this clearly: it absolutely would not happen without our customers. It is the choice to adopt our remanufactured or refurbished laptops, with their inherent financial, quality, and sustainability benefits, that empowers this wonderful work.

To every customer, past and future, thank you. By choosing Circular Computing, you are doing more than securing high-quality laptops; you are enabling a better future. Clean water changes everything, and together, our ripple effect is growing stronger every day.
