Selecting the region
  • When you first start your laptop, you will see the ‘Hello there’ language selection screen:
  • Select your country options and time zone then click on Next.
  • Follow the on screen instructions to complete the Windows 10 setup screens.

Connecting to the Internet

Connecting to your wireless router is part of the initial Windows setup wizard.

If you do not do this the first time you start up your laptop, you can do this by clicking on the wireless icon in the notification area on the taskbar:

1) Click the wireless icon in the notification area
2) Select the network you want to connect to
3) Tick the ‘Connect automatically’ checkbox
4) Click the ‘Connect’ button
5) Enter your network security key 6) Click on the ‘Next’ button

If the network flyout is not showing any available wireless networks, make sure that your router is switched on and broadcasting its WiFi connection.

Selecting the region

‘Is this the right country or region?’ screen is the first display shown on Windows 11 initial Setup. This screen allows you to select your geographical region. Select your preferred country. Clicking Yes displays the next Windows 11 setup screen

Selecting the keyboard layout

The screen shown below allows you to select your keyboard layout. US is at the top of the list. If you want a different keyboard layout, scroll through the list until you see the layout you want. Select the appropriate keyboard layout and then click Yes.

Connecting to the Internet

2) Enter your network security key
3) Click the ‘Next’ button

If you do not want to do this the first time you start up your laptop, you can ignore this by clicking on 'I don't have internet button'

Read through and accept the license terms. Clicking on 'Accept' will lead to the next screen

Naming Your PC

'Let’s name your device' screen allows you to optionally create a custom system name for your new Windows 11 system. If you want to create a custom name, enter the name you want in the input box in the middle of the screen following the naming rules that are posted on the screen and then click Next. However, this step is optional. If you don’t care about creating a custom name, you can click the 'Skip for now' link at the bottom of the screen and Windows will automatically generate a name for the system.
